Jan 16, 2025
FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - With an incoming blast of cold air, Monday and Tuesday, January 20 and 21, will be 15 Fury Alert Days.
The cold air starts to arrive over the weekend with temps falling through the day both on Saturday and Sunday. However, air temperatures will not reach below zero until late Sunday night/early Monday morning.
Wind chills in the Monday and Tuesday time frame will be below zero all day with values ranging from -10° to -20°. At these wind chill levels, frostbite will set in quickly on any exposed skin. Plan accordingly, so that you don't have to spend long amounts of time outside on these 15 Fury Alert Days.
January 20 and 21 are 15 Fury Alert Days due to very low wind chill values.
Also, take precautions to avoid having your home's pipes freeze up, like opening your cabinet doors under your exterior wall sinks and allowing the water to trickle during the upcoming 15 Fury Alert Days.
15 Fury Alert Days are issued for the most impactful weather days of the year when the safety of lives and property is at stake. The Live Doppler 15 Fury Storm Team only issues these alert days on rare occasions, after certain specific forecast thresholds have been met. As a result, Live Doppler 15 Fury Weather Watchers know to pay special attention to the forecast when they see the 15 Fury Alert Day logo appear and that it means dangerous weather is about to occur.
