Biden team bids farewell

WASHINGTON (NEXSTAR) - In less than a week a new administration takes power at the White House.
President Joe Biden and members of his cabinet are delivering farewell speeches to thank those who served in the administration before handing it over to a new leaders.
During Secretary of State Antony Blinken's farewell speech to the press people who are not members of the regular State Department press corp interrupted Blinken.
Security removed one person upset about U.S. support for Israel who repeatedly tried to demand answers from the secretary.
With the start of the ceasefire deal between Israel and Hamas just days away Blinken says he remains confident the deal will be implemented as planned.
"This is a moment of tremendous relief for Israelis and Palestinians alike," Blinken said.
Over at the Pentagon, President Joe Biden took part in a farewell ceremony.
The president used his speech to thank not only service members but their families for their sacrifices.
"They'll never see all those holidays and birthdays with an empty seat at the dinner table, because mom or dad is deployed," Biden said.
At the Justice Department Attorney General Merrick Garland encouraged those who will remain at the department to continue the mission.
"To keep our country safe. To protect civil rights and to uphold the rule of law," Garland said.
