CANTON, Ohio (WJW) -- Federal agents pursuing a man wanted in Stark County found a dead woman in the basement of the Columbus-area home where he was arrested. The woman has not yet been identified, Marshals said Thursday. I-Team: Nurse facing felony charge after patient went missing, later died Members of the U.S. Marshals' Southern Ohio Fugitive Apprehension Strike Team on Thursday morning arrested Darrell Carter Jr., 33, of Canton, at a home in the 5900 block of Levi Kramer Boulevard in Canal Winchester, according to a news release. Carter had allegedly failed to appear in court for an assault charge in Stark County, according to the release. Task force members learned he had fled the county and was living in the Columbus area. Police on Thursday were investigating the scene to determine the woman's identity, reads the release. “This fugitive from Stark County thought he could evade arrest by fleeing to the Columbus area, but great investigative work by our task force resulted in his arrest today," Northern Ohio U.S. Marshal Pete Elliott is quoted in the release. "Unfortunately, a dead body was located, but our task force and the local police department will work together to uncover the identity of the female.” Anyone with information about a wanted fugitive can contact the Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force at 1-866-4WANTED (1-866-492-6833) or submit a tip online.
