The Ohio Lake Erie Commission has announced the 33rd annual Life on Lake Erie Photo Contest. This is an amazing opportunity for Ohioans to capture and showcase the unique beauty, wildlife, communities and vibrant life surrounding all the wonder that Lake Erie has to offer, according to a news release. The Life on Lake Erie Photo Contest invites photographers to submit up to five images that represent the essence of Life on Lake Erie — whether that’s a scenic capture of the Great Lake Erie, its wildlife, recreation activities or events, the release said. Through unique perspectives, the contest highlights the lake’s environmental significance and raises awareness to help preserve, protect and promote the preservation of Lake Erie, according to the release. “The Life on Lake Erie Photo Contest has become a cherished tradition, celebrating the beauty and legacy of Lake Erie through the lens of our community,” said Joy Mulinex, executive director of the Ohio Lake Erie Commission, in the release. “This photo contest connects us to Lake Erie through photography, perfectly capturing its natural resource significance to Ohio and inspiring a greater commitment to promoting this invaluable resource.” The contest is made possible through the partnerships and support of local businesses and organizations, offering Ohio-based prizes and exciting local adventures that highlight the best of Lake Erie and its surrounding communities, the release said. The 2025 Life on Lake Erie prizes include: • Cedar Point Gift Certificates donated by Cedar Point • National Museum of the Great Lakes Inland Seas Family Membership donated by National Museum of the Great Lakes • Miller Ferry round trip tickets donated by Miller Boat Ferry • Ohio Heart of it All swag bags provided by TourismOhio • Overnight stay at Sawmill Creek donated by Sawmill Creek • Overnight stay at Maumee Bay Lodge donated by Maumee Bay Lodge & Conference Center • Parasailing gift certificates donated by Put in Bay Parasailing • Taste of Ohio’s Best Made & Homegrown Products provided by Ohio Department of Agriculture Entries will be judged based on relevancy to the theme, creativity and visual quality and composition, according to the release. Prizes will be awarded to the top entries and photographs will be featured on the Ohio Lake Erie website, social channels and at partner venues. Submissions for the photo contest are due by July 31. Participants can submit up to five photographs for consideration.
