Virginia Credit Union River City Half and 5k to return to Richmond

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- The Virginia Credit Union River City Half and 5k will return to Richmond in March.
The second annual Virginia Credit Union River City Half and 5k will take place on March 8.
According to a spokesperson for Sports Backers, runners in the event will race through scenic routes as the course winds through the University of Richmond campus, over the Huguenot Bridge, Riverside Meadows, Pony Pasture and more.
The race ends at the University of Richmond along Lakeview Lane, where participants are welcomed into a Post Race Festival.
According to the spokesperson, finishers of both races will receive a long-sleeved technical shirt, a medal and two drink tickets. Half marathon participants will also receive a branded tote bag.
Runners can also enjoy Papa Johns pizza and local craft beer from Hardywood Park Craft Brewery as they celebrate their accomplishments.
The Virginia Credit Union River City Half and 5k debuted in 2024 and earned an overall rating of 4.7 out of 5 as RaceRaves Top Rated event in its first year, according to officials.
“We are thrilled with the success of the Virginia Credit Union River City Half & 5k,” said Molly Johnson, race director. “We can’t wait to build on this positive momentum, enhance the participant experience, and showcase the beauty of Richmond’s riverfront to both returning and first-time runners on March 8.”
