CUMBERLAND, R.I. (WLNE) — A Cranston man accused of an armed robbery in Attleboro was arrested by Cumberland police Wednesday. Chance McKinney, 23, is charged with possession of a stolen motor vehicle, receiving stolen goods, possession of crack cocaine, being a fugitive from justice and other counts.  On Tuesday at 4 p.m., Cumberland’s newly introduced Flock camera system alerted police to two vehicles entering the town wanted in connection to incidents in other jurisdictions. Officers attempted to stop one of the vehicles, which they said fled into Central Falls. The stop attempt was ended at that time, and officers continued to search for the second vehicle pinged by Flock. A car crash was reported in the area of Lusitana Avenue with a subject fleeing the scene, and responding officers found it to be a third vehicle. Cumberland officers on the scene were advised by Attleboro police that they were seeking a vehicle involved in an armed robbery. The wanted vehicle matched the crashed vehicle at the scene. McKinney was located in an adjacent neighborhood by Cumberland officers a short time later and arrested without incident. A possible connection between the three wanted vehicles is being investigated. McKinney was taken to a local hospital due to an unrelated medical condition. He is due to appear in 6th District Court Thursday for rearraignment after being arraigned by a justice of the peace Wednesday night, according to Cumberland police. “The alleged incident just over the line in Attleboro is troubling, but I’m happy to report Mr. McKinney is currently off of our streets,” said Matthew Benson, Chief of the Cumberland Police Department. “Conduct like this has absolutely no place in our community, or any other for that matter, and I’m glad that we were able to take this individual into custody.” McKinney will also be presented as a bail violator at a later time.
