Family-owned and operated for 72 years, Comeaux Furniture, Appliance & Mattress is going out of business and will begin total liquidation of its showroom and warehouse on Thursday, Jan. 16.
Michael Comeaux, president and owner of Comeaux Furniture, plans to retire after closing the doors of his family’s business that has been part of the New Orleans community since 1953. Furniture promotional sales specialists Planned Furniture Promotions is handling the going-out-of-business sale details and events.
“It is a great honor to support the Comeaux family in closing this chapter and celebrating such an incredible legacy,” said Tom Liddell, senior vice president of PFP.
Sterling “Buddy” Comeaux opened his first furniture and appliance store in a 400-square-foot store at 906 City Park Ave. in New Orleans. After five years, the company outgrew its small space and moved into a 58,000-square-foot location in Metairie.
In 2007, Comeaux Furniture opened an additional 200,000-square-foot warehouse with an outlet store and clearance center in New Orleans.
Comeaux Furniture will hold liquidation sales at its two stores in Metairie and New Orleans. Both store buildings are for sale and interested parties may contact Michael Comeaux at (504) 831-1365.
