INDIANAPOLIS -- Someone fired shots into a north side apartment early Thursday morning, sending a juvenile to an Indianapolis hospital.
According to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, officers responded to a call of a person shot at an apartment in the 2100 block of Waterford Place around 3:20 a.m.
When officers arrived, they located a juvenile male with a gunshot wound. He was taken to St. Vincent Hospital in stable condition.
Police believe this was a targeted attack because the shots were fired from outside into the second floor of the apartment, and no other apartments were struck by gunfire.
Police do not have a description of a suspect and are searching for witnesses.
“Unfortunately we do not have any witness at this time," said Capt. Don Weilhammer with IMPD. "So, we are looking or anyone who might have seen this happen and can give us any type of description or the person or persons involved and a vehicle description.”
Anyone with information is asked to contact IMPD at (317) 327-3475 or Crime Stoppers at (317) 262-TIPS (8477).
"I’d like to take this opportunity to stress we need the public’s help with this," Weilhammer said. "Without the public’s help, this one is going to be a very difficult case to solve.”
