A few passing snow showers will leave us by mid-morning, with most falling northeast of Indianapolis. This is part of a warm front lifting across the state! Milder air is on the way today but wind chills this morning are hovering in the teens due to breezy conditions. This afternoon looks mainly cloudy and overall dry (a flurry possible) with temperatures steadily climbing into the lower to middle 30s. This will help with some gradual melting of snow on the ground, while improving roads that are still covered. Winds will remain breezy from the west at 12-18 mph. Friday will bring the warmest air in two weeks, since we reached 41° on Jan. 2. This is welcome and will likely include some sunshine as winds remain breezy from the south-southeast at 12-18 mph. Drastic changes get underway on Saturday. After an early morning high of 37°, temperatures will fall quickly through the day with rain changing to snow. Some roads will turn icy by Saturday evening, while winds remain blustery and drier air returns to the state overnight. Falling temperatures will continue through Sunday and on through early Monday morning. With the sharply colder air inbound, snow showers and some lake-effect snow showers will kick up on Sunday and Monday, as the coldest air of the season arrives--a true polar plunge!
