Firefighters, police, cowboys responding to large commercial fire in Garrett County

GARRETT COUNTY, Md. (DC News Now) -- The Maryland Office of the State Fire Marshal (OSFM) said that officials were investigating a large commercial fire in Garrett County in almost single-degree weather on Wednesday.
Officials said that around 5:45 p.m., a fire was reported at Friends Stockyard on Stockyard Road.

"Firefighters have requested law enforcement and cowboys to assist with the wrangling of cattle that have been left loose," an OSFM post said.

Officials said that all lanes of US-219 were closed between Ryland Court and Interstate 68.
The OSFM said that it would be an "extended operation."
In an update made at 7:25 p.m., OSFM said that three cows had died. One firefighter had to be evaluated and treated on the scene for injuries. That firefighter was later released.
