Nighttime hikes with owls at Genesee County Village Museum
Jan 15, 2025
ROCHESTER, NY (WROC) – If you've ever wondered who is flying around the woods at night, now is your chance to find out.
The Genesee County Village and Museum will be hosting a wintertime night hike, giving folks an opportunity to experience the outdoors as owls do. If you're lucky enough, you might even see one too. Though, experts said it's not always a guarantee.
"They're pretty shy, and to be honest, our tour groups out in the woods - we're not likely to see a wild owl. It does happen sometimes, but if we come around with a group of 25 people, they tend to steer clear," said Adam Henne, director of the Nature Center.

Hikes will be held the following two Fridays and Saturdays from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m. Officials remind you to dress appropriately if you'll be out searching for owls, as the events will take place in rain, snow, or shine.
