President Biden gives farewell address
Jan 15, 2025
CHICOPEE, Mass (WWLP) - The presidential farewell address is a chance for presidents leaving the oval office to help write their history and legacy, and for President Joe Biden, he has 50 years of political service to reflect on in this momentous speech.
Massachusetts to invest $8B in transportation improvement
Evan Garber, the Vice President and Senior Consultant at Anthony Cignoli Associates, said in the next few years, people will likely be writing more books about Biden. This address is a chance for Biden to write his own history with what he has accomplished in his career as senator, vice president, and president.
"Bipartisan infrastructure act, one of the largest investments ever in the U.S.' infrastructure. The 2022 gun reform package was the biggest gun reform deal in decades," said Garber. "And the inflation reduction act he will want to talk about. It was the biggest investment in climate technology in the country's history."
Garber also mentioned that another legacy Biden has had to deal with is foreign policy. Two major wars, between Russia and Ukraine, and Israel and Palestine in which a ceasefire was just agreed upon, with the U.S. being one of the countries helping with negotiations.
Garber said he believes Biden is likely to include those elements as a selling point for his presidency and what he has accomplished. Another accomplishment that he might include is during his administration the unemployment rate has gone from 6.4% to now about 4.1%.
