PORTALES, N.M. (KRQE) – Jose Murillo is now in a category of his own at ENMU. The former Highland Hornets and current Greyhounds star basketball player is now the ENMU all-time leader in career blocks.
The Greyhounds junior big man recorded his 106 block during Eastern's game against Angelo State this week. Murillo still has 13 regular season games, the conference tournament and another year of eligibility to add to his total.
"It was amazing news," said Murillo. "I was really surprised that I broke the record and I was really happy about it."
This season, Murillo has averaged 13.1 points, 5.9 rebounds and 1.6 blocks per game. He has averaged a double-double over his last two games and believes the team is heading in the right direction to finish out the season.
"I think we are capable to win the conference and go to the national tournament and probably win the national tournament too."
