MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A 24-year-old man faces first-degree murder charges after he allegedly shot and killed his father Monday night at an apartment complex on Thomas Street in Uptown. Man dead after shooting near Uptown apartment complex Investigators said Cedric Blue Sr. was found lying on the floor of his apartment with multiple gunshot wounds, after his son Cedric Blue Jr. called 911 and stated, "I just shot my dad." When officers arrived, they said Cedric Blue Jr. was outside his father's apartment and tried to run but was taken into custody. He is being held on a $1 million bond. 577 Thomas Street Monday night. WREG photo. A witness told police Cedric Jr. was responsible for the shooting and had hidden two guns behind a bush in front of the building. Officers said they located one 9mm AR pistol and one Glock 19 handgun in the shrubs. According to the complaint affidavit, Cedric Blue Sr.'s fiancée was in the apartment and witnessed the shooting. She said Cedric Blue Jr. got angry when his father told him to leave, picked up a handgun, loaded it, and walked outside. She said he came back into the apartment, said, "You gonna keep playing with me," and shot his dad. Cedric denied telling dispatchers he had shot his father and said he told them his dad had been shot. Cedric was also charged with evading arrest and tampering with evidence. He is scheduled to appear in court on Thursday.
