INDIANAPOLIS -- Indiana Pacers guard Bennedict Mathurin has been suspended one game without pay, the NBA announced on Wednesday.
Mathurin was ejected during Tuesday's loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers after he committed a foul on Evan Mobley and confronted referee Natalie Sago to protest the call with 3:58 remaining in the fourth quarter. During this incident, the NBA said Mathurin "verbally abused" Sago after he appeared to bump into her while continuing to voice his disapproval of the foul play.
This led to Mathurin collecting his second technical foul, which resulted in him being ejected from the game. Mathurin finished the game with 19 points, four rebounds, two assists and one steal.
This means Mathurin will miss Thursday's game in Detroit and will return Saturday versus the Philadelphia 76ers.
