Sustainably Speaking: Exploring Miron Construction’s Sustainable Journey
Jan 15, 2025
NEENAH, Wis. (WFRV) - Miron Construction's sustainable journey began over ten years ago around 2008 when the addition was added onto to their Neenah office. Since then, the company has been committed to sustainability at all project sites.
The company's corporate office achieved 'LEED Gold Certification' certifying that a building is cost-effective and energy efficient. To achieve this distinction, on a 110-point rating system, the building must receive a score of sixty or higher.

On top of the corporate office, the regional buildings in Green Bay, Madison, Milwaukee, Eau Claire and Iowa are pursuing the certification. Theresa Lehman, Miron Constructions Director of Sustainable Services, explains why this decision has been made to embark on this journey.
"We are doing this because it enhances the health and well-being of people, minimizes environmental impacts and makes good sound financial sense," said Lehman.
For the corporate office and their projects, the company begins by using low VOC or zero VOC which stands for 'volatile organic compounds'. They also invest in keeping acoustics sound low, so as you walk around their buildings, little noise from computers or cross-chatter can be heard.
The company believes that high usage of natural lighting cuts energy reliance, and they use LED lights when it isn't possible. Finally, the company uses geothermal heating and cooling systems for all its projects.
Lehman said they decided to switch to geothermal for their corporate office to showcase to clients the benefits of this system.
Miron has installed ninety projects with geothermal heating and cooling as its primary source since installing geothermal at the corporate office.
