Some snow Thursday and the start of a brief warmup
Jan 15, 2025
Our next snow-producing weather system is moving through, bringing scattered snow showers through the early morning and continuing during the daytime Thursday. Temperatures are on the rise with out-the-door morning temps in the 20s.
While the snow may fall at a heavy rate, at times, total snow amounts will be light = 1" or less across the entire region by the end of the day.
A light total snow amount is expected Thursday. However, the snow may fall rapidly/heavily at times.
Our Thursday sky is cloudy with this next system moving through. Conditions will be much warmer than recent days with highs reaching the low 30s in the afternoon. Windy periods start up on Thursday and will continue, at times, through Saturday. Top gusts will be around 30 mph.
Snow showers are on the way overnight tonight and continue on Thursday
Conditions on Friday will be warmer than what we experience Thursday. Friday's highs will be in the mid-30s.
Overnight into Saturday, our next system brings rain and snow showers, and the chance for some sleet, too. Highs will be in the mid-30s and temps fall during the day. The rain/snow/sleet chances move out by the evening. Area travel early in the day may end up being impacted as the precipitation falls.
Rain, snow, sleet possible Saturday morning. Precip chances decrease by evening.
Temperatures begin to fall significantly Sunday as colder air moves into the area. Sunday's high temps (occurring in the morning) will be in the mid-teens. The temperatures will fall during the day and end up below zero for Monday morning.
Monday and Tuesday's high temps will only be in the single digits. Like Monday morning, Tuesday morning will, also, experience temperatures falling below zero.
On Monday and Tuesday, wind chill values are expected to be below zero all day long and will be as low as -10° to -20°. Plan ahead to not have to be outside much on these days. Frostbite will set in very quickly on exposed skin.
A COLD blast of winter air arrives early next week.
Temperatures will slowly moderate by the end of next week with high temperatures reaching the 20s on Thursday.
