FBI El Paso: US Marshals officer hurt, 1 in custody after shooting in San Elizario

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) - A U.S. Marshal officer was seriously injured, and one person is in custody after an officer-involved shooting on Wednesday, Jan. 15, in San Elizario, FBI El Paso said.

Fire dispatch said a shooting call came in just before 5 p.m. at 11860 Socorro Rd. in San Elizario.
An officer was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries (Code 3), fire dispatch said. FBI El Paso later confirmed the one transported was a U.S. Marshals officer.
The FBI El Paso sent the following statement to KTSM:
"At this time FBI El Paso and the Texas Rangers are responding to an assault of a federal and state task force officer upon receiving gunfire shots."
The U.S. Marshals confirmed one person is in custody, and there is no threat to the public. The agency also said the Lonestar Fugitive Task Force was involved.
