Gusty winds, dust, and 'mudballs' possible Friday Your 9Day Forecast
Jan 15, 2025
What a beautiful day. With a high of 57, we saw partly cloudy skies. Those clouds prompted one of our Weather Watchers, Cosmicbro77, to capture this image of the sun with a couple of rings around it. Those refractive rings were caused by a layer of high cirrus ice crystals.
TONIGHT: The skies will be partly cloudy. The N breeze will feel chilly at 5-10 mph, and the low will drop to 33 at the airport, 30 in the valley.
FORECAST: Thursday will be even warmer with a high of 64. High pressure starts to build up, and the winds will shift SW at 5-15 mph. On Friday, a powerful low-pressure system passes over the Borderland. This will stir up the winds in the afternoon, out of the west-SW at 15-50 mph with the strongest gusts on the east slopes. Expect not only a dusty haze but also a slight chance of a few drops of rain here and there. This will create "mudballs" on the cars. Saturday will be sunny with cooler winds and a high of 58. The NW winds will range from 10-25 mph with no dust. Sunday will be sunny with chilly breezes in the morning and a high of 51. Monday will be sunny and 55. A cold front blows in on Tuesday. Look for partly cloudy skies and moderately gusty winds on the west slopes of the mountains. Tuesday's high: 48. Wednesday will be mostly sunny and 52.
