BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) -- It would make for an unusual card: "Roses are red, and roaches are ... delicious." But a fundraiser for California Living Museum is giving those in love and the lovelorn to make that quote a treat for an animal. CALM is hosting its second annual Roses or Roaches Valentine's Day Fundraiser, the zoo said Wednesday. For $5 you can dedicate either a rose or a cockroach to that special someone. That rose or roach will then be fed to the animals on Valentine's Day. Visitors to CALM will be able to see the animals eat the special dedications throughout the day. Wellness Wednesday: Avocado Smash Toast CALM officials said the fundraiser is a fun, tongue-in-cheek way to celebrate Valentine's Day. Proceeds will go toward funding the zoo throughout the year. The fundraiser takes place through Feb. 9 You can visit this site to make a donation for a rose or roach. Admission to CALM is $12 for adults, $8 for children ages 3 through 12, $9 for ages 60 and over. Admission is free for CALM members or military with ID.
