The Detroit Lions released their Wednesday injury report for the Divisional round of the playoffs. The Detroit Lions and Washington Commanders will square off in the Divisional Round of the NFL playoffs, and both teams were on the practice field on Wednesday. Let’s take a look at Wednesday’s injury report and get you up to date with what we know. Note that any changes from Tuesday’s report will be bolded.
No practice
LT Taylor Decker (personal) — New addition (pun intended)
RG Kevin Zeitler (hamstring)
DL Pat O’Connor (calf)
CB Ennis Rakestraw (hamstring/illness) — Injury clock days remaining: 14
Decker was added to the injury report on Wednesday with a personal designation, and while nothing official has been announced as to why, it’s worth noting that the Decker family is due to welcome another addition this month.
Something to keep in mind until we hear about Decker’s absence: his wife’s due date for their son is in January. pic.twitter.com/2qFZGkbAZP— Jeremy Reisman (@DetroitOnLion) January 15, 2025
It’s also worth recognizing that Dave Birkett of the Free Press is reporting that Decker’s absence is “nothing to worry about.”
No Kevin Zeitler or Taylor Decker at Lions practice today. Zeitler was working out on the side. Decker’s absence is nothing to worry about.— Dave Birkett (@davebirkett) January 15, 2025
Zeitler missed practice on Wednesday, matching Tuesday’s estimated report, but was seen working off to the side with trainers, which is typically an indicator he is close to returning. If he’s unable to go, rookie Christian Mahogany would be the presumed favorite to start at right guard.
O’Connor’s injury is presumed to be significant based on Lions coach Dan Campbell’s previous comments and his missing practice was expected. We could get an update on his status at Campbell’s presser on Thursday.
Rakestraw, who is still in the “designated to return” from injured reserve evaluation window, missed practice due to an illness. An illness designation can cover a wide range of ailments, so it’s impossible to predict when he may be able to return to practice.
Limited practice
None
Full practice
RB David Montgomery (knee)
CB Terrion Arnold (foot)
After being estimated to have been a full participant on Tuesday, Montgomery officially got in a full practice on Wednesday and he has said he’s ready to go.
“I feel like if you gotta take the precaution, I shouldn’t be out there. So I’m rollin’,” Montgomery said on Tuesday.
Arnold also got in another full practice and appears to have escaped major injury in the regular season finale.
