MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Md. (DC News Now) -- The Montgomery County Department of Police (MCPD) is investigating a fraudulent scheme that involves a popular social commerce marketplace platform.
MCPD said the investigation began last year involving Poshmark and it believes that there could be more victims involved.
On Sept. 7, 2024, a victim reported to police that their bank card had been fraudulently used in a Dick's Sporting Goods purchase online.

While investigating, detectives tracked the package to a different recipient. They said the person who received the package had bought it off Poshmark from a seller known as “@Valdez310," and it was sent from Dick's Sporting Goods.
MCPD said the victim's bank card was used to buy the Dick's Sporting Goods item and the suspect had passed it off as a Poshmark item.
MCPD said detectives determined that Poshmark seller "@Valdez310" had used the stolen credit card information to list and sell fraudulent items on Poshmark.
Detectives believe that there are likely more victims who have had their personal information stolen and used to list and sell things on Poshmark.
Anyone who believes they may have been a victim is asked to call (240) 773-5476.
