FRESNO COUNTY, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – Two dogs and a cat died in a house fire in the Tarpey Village area near Clovis on Wednesday morning, according to Fresno County Fire. Fire officials say firefighters first entered the home near Minnewawa Avenue and Holland Avenue in "rescue mode" around 8:15 a.m. to search for any occupants. They simultaneously worked to knock down the fire, which was concentrated in the kitchen area. Firefighters also broke windows to ventilate smoke from the structure. Firefighters discover two deceased dogs and a deceased cat. The fire caused extensive damage throughout the house, and the kitchen appears to be where the fire originated, according to investigators. The incident was handled by Fresno County Fire, with assistance from Clovis City and Fresno City fire departments. A total of five engines were present at the scene. The homeowner was not at home at the time of the fire and the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
