South Salem residents may experience a disruption in their water flow due to a water valve that failed around midday Wednesday.  At 11:55 a.m. Wednesday, a valve disconnected from a water main on South Crestview Drive in south Salem causing a large loss of water, according to a city post on Facebook Wednesday afternoon.  City spokeswoman Kathy Ursprung said she didn’t immediately have more information available about the impact on the city’s water system. People in the area could have experienced a loss of water or a reduced water pressure. The city statement said that the specific area impacted by the valve failure is undetermined.  Public works crews responded to the scene and are working to isolate the valve break from the rest of the city’s water system. Once the crews determine how large of an area is affected, the city may issue boil water notices to impacted residences and businesses. People who have experienced a disruption in water flow or pressure can report it to the city’s Public Works Department by calling 503-588-6311.  This story will be updated as more information becomes available.
