(KRON) -- A sheriff's helicopter caught a wild police chase on camera stretching from Sonoma County to Marin County along Highway 101 and Interstate 580. The full freeway chase can be watched in the video player above. Casey Joseph Beck, 36, of Antioch, fled from law enforcement officers by driving the wrong way into heavy oncoming traffic on Monday afternoon, police said. In the video, vehicles, including a school bus, are seen swerving out of his way to avoid crashing. As the wrong-way driver created chaos on the ground, a Sonoma County Sheriff's helicopter named "Henry-1" followed him in the air. The chase was initially triggered when officers spotted Beck inside an SUV near Sonoma State University. He was wanted for a burglary that happened in Rohnert Park days earlier, the San Rafael Police Department said. Beck fled from police on Highway 101, and California Highway Patrol officers chased his SUV through San Rafael. During the pursuit, the suspect began driving in the wrong direction on the highway. "CHP Officers immediately discontinued the pursuit in the interest of public safety and allowed Henry-1 to track the vehicle by air," SRDP wrote. To protect other motorists from the dangerous driver, CHP officers quickly created traffic breaks, stopping many cars at onramps to Highway 101 and I-580. Police said these officers likely saved lives. Beck attempted to drive through one of the traffic breaks, but an SRPD officer rammed his patrol car into Beck's SUV until it crashed against a concrete wall, the helicopter video shows. The SUV was finally halted and surrounded by officers at gunpoint. As one officer doused the blaze with a fire extinguisher, backup officers dragged Beck out of the car and arrested him. The police department commended its officers for showing "teamwork, bravery, and professionalism," bringing the chase to an end without serious injuries.
