Springfield Thunderbirds to host Cammer Cup sled hockey event with local celebrities

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - The 15th Annual Cammer Cup, hosted by CHD's Springfield Thunderbirds "All In Youth and Adult Recreation Sled Hockey" program, is set to take place on Monday, January 20 at the MassMutual Center.
This special event, honoring the memory of former teammate Alex Camerlin, will feature a day of exciting sled hockey matchups and community engagement.

The event kicks off at noon with the Cammer Cup Celebrity Game, where local celebrities will take to the ice alongside sled hockey athletes. Participants include:

The Cammer Cup is named in memory of Alex Camerlin, a passionate sled hockey player who passed away 19 years ago. “Alex’s spirit still lives on the ice,” said Chuck Camerlin, Alex’s father. “Sled hockey was more than a hobby for Alex—it was his passion. We are honored and humbled that his legacy lives on through the Cammer Cup.”

Game Day Schedule
Cammer Cup vs. Celebrities: 12:00 p.m. to 12:45 p.m.
Travel Team vs. Vermont Pioneers: 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Springfield Thunderbirds vs. Bridgeport: 3:05 p.m.
Proceeds from ticket sales will benefit the All In Youth and Adult Sled Hockey teams, helping to cover ice time, equipment costs, and travel expenses for away games.
The CHD All In: Barrier-Free Recreation program is dedicated to providing adaptive and inclusive recreational opportunities for individuals with disabilities. Through sled hockey and other activities, the program fosters self-confidence, physical fitness, and community connection for its participants.
