SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - The 15th Annual Cammer Cup, hosted by CHD's Springfield Thunderbirds "All In Youth and Adult Recreation Sled Hockey" program, is set to take place on Monday, January 20 at the MassMutual Center. This special event, honoring the memory of former teammate Alex Camerlin, will feature a day of exciting sled hockey matchups and community engagement. Comedian Kevin Hart “Acting My Age” tour coming to Springfield The event kicks off at noon with the Cammer Cup Celebrity Game, where local celebrities will take to the ice alongside sled hockey athletes. Nate Costa, President of the Springfield Thunderbirds Janna Brown, Western Mass News Meteorologist Robert Charland, founder of Petal Thru Youth and Deputy for the Hampden County Sheriff’s Office The Cammer Cup is named in memory of Alex Camerlin, a passionate sled hockey player who passed away 19 years ago. “Alex’s spirit still lives on the ice,” said Chuck Camerlin, Alex’s father. “Sled hockey was more than a hobby for Alex—it was his passion. The CHD All In: Barrier-Free Recreation program is dedicated to providing adaptive and inclusive recreational opportunities for individuals with disabilities. Through sled hockey and other activities, the program fosters self-confidence, physical fitness, and community connection for its participants.
