BOSTON, Mass. (WLNE) — A Taunton man convicted of selling counterfeit pills containing methamphetamine to an undercover officer in 2024 has been sentenced in U.S. District Court.
Shavon “Soo Soo” Gurley, 29, was sentenced to serve 10 years in prison after pleading guilty in October to distribution and possession with intent to distribute 500 grams and more of a mixture and substance containing a detectable amount of methamphetamine.
After he was identified as a member of a fentanyl and methamphetamine trafficking operation out of Brockton, undercover law enforcement established communication with Gurley in August of 2024.
According to the Massachusetts United States Attorney’s Office, undercover officers expressed an interest in buying methamphetamine pills from Gurley.
On August 5, Gurley sold 6,000 counterfeit Adderall pills found to contain methamphetamine to an undercover officer.
Gurley told the officer that he would reduce the price per pill if the officer bought 10,000 or 20,000 pills.
Gurley told the officer that he sold kilograms of fentanyl for $30,000 that he could then combine with cutting agents into 10 kilograms.
He also told the officer that he sold higher-quality fentanyl for $50,000 and that he was approaching $600,000 in profits.
The undercover officer’s “aura” was complimented by Gurley, who promised to do further business with the officer.
Gurley was on pretrial release for an alleged domestic violence offense at the time.
While executing a search warrant of Gurley’s residence and vehicle, police seized a load handgun, a bag containing what was believed to be fentanyl, and several plastic bags containing approximately 10,000 counterfeit Adderall pills police believed contained methamphetamine.
Gurley was convicted of assault and battery in 2012 stemming from an incident where he attacked a man with a pistol.
He served six-10 years in state prison for this offense.
