ATTLEBORO, Mass. (WPRI) — Police are investigating an armed robbery reported Tuesday afternoon in Attleboro.
Officers responded to N&R Wholesale on Mann Street around 4:15 p.m., where they learned six masked suspects entered the business, brandished firearms, and demanded cash from the owner.
Shortly after, police were alerted to a crash on Lusitana Avenue in Cumberland. Authorities discovered the vehicle matched the description of one connected to the robbery.
The driver, a 23-year-old Cranston man, fled the scene on foot after the crash but was apprehended in a nearby neighborhood. As the investigation remains active, police have not yet released his name and details on the charges he faces.
While no injuries were reported in the crash, police said the suspect was taken to the hospital for an "unrelated medical condition."
Meanwhile, Cumberland police said their new Flock camera system flagged two vehicles wanted by outside jurisdictions around 4 p.m. Officers later spotted one of the vehicles on Broad Street, but the driver fled into Central Falls after police tried to stop the vehicle.
Police are now working to determine if either vehicle is linked to the robbery.
