(WSAV) — A Southwest flight in Savannah, Georgia, was delayed for five hours Wednesday morning due to a pilot being arrested and charged with DUI, authorities said. Details were limited Wednesday afternoon but authorities confirmed the pilot, 52-year-old David Allsop, was removed from the aircraft at the Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport and taken to the Chatham County jail. He is charged with driving under the influence, an official reported. Allsop's bond was set at $3,500, jail records show. It's unclear whether he had posted bond as of Wednesday evening. A photo shared with Nexstar's WSAV, seen below, showed the pilot being led off the plane. David Allsop, Chatham County Sheriff's Office Allsop has been removed from duty, a Southwest representative said. In a statement to WSAV, Southwest Airlines: "We're aware of a situation involving an Employee on Flight 3772 this morning from Savannah. The Employee has been removed from duty. Customers were accommodated on other flights and we apologize for the disruption to their travel plans. There's nothing more important to Southwest than the Safety of our Employees and Customers." The flight, bound for Chicago's Midway International Airport, was scheduled to depart Savannah shortly after 6 a.m. ET on Wednesday, FlightAware data shows. It did not depart until shortly after 11 a.m. ET, arriving in Chicago roughly two hours later. Nexstar's Addy Bink contributed to this report.
