It may be snowy right now, but Water Week is right around the corner! Water Week is a collaborative effort among water quality professionals and volunteers to help residents connect to local waterways and protect water quality. Lexington’s sixth annual Water Week will take place March 22 – 30, and we’re looking for event hosts. Water Week events can be in-person, self-guided or virtual. Events should be free and can occur anytime during Water Week.  Past Water Week events have included litter cleanups, tree plantings, tours of water quality projects, creek walks, trivia nights, lectures and workshops about green infrastructure. Past Water Week hosts are encouraged to submit events again, and new hosts are always welcome.  Water Week events can: •          Raise awareness about water quality issues in our community •          Encourage Lexington residents to explore local creeks  •          Involve participants in service projects that improve water quality  Water Week events must be submitted online by Tuesday, Feb. 18.  Water Week is sponsored by the City of Lexington, University of Kentucky Martin-Gatton College of Agriculture, Food and Environment, Fayette County Public Schools and local watershed groups.
