Jan 15, 2025
KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- The City of Harrisonville announced that there will be a large-scale, planned electrical outage on Thursday night, allowing crews to make necessary repairs to one of its local substations.
So, if you are a Harrisonville resident, here's everything you need to know:
On Thursday night, from 11 p.m. to 1 a.m., repairs will begin on the arresters and ground straps at the city's north substation to ensure the transformer does not become overloaded and cause the whole substation to lose power.

Although it has been extremely cold since the start of the year, the city chose this night because it will be the warmest of the week, with temperatures in the mid-to-upper 30s.
A large portion of Harrisonville will be affected by the outage. However, the city says the work is "essential to maintaining an efficient and effective power grid and hopefully limits the potential for a large-scale outage hitting the north side of town."
