Robbery victim fires weapon, kills suspect at Traders Point shopping center

INDIANAPOLIS A carjacking suspect was killed in a shooting at Traders Point shopping center Wednesday morning.According to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, around 5:40 a.m., officers responded to a report of a person shot in the 5700 block of 86th Street.As police were on the way, another 911 call alerted officers to an attempted robbery involving two armed suspects.Upon arrival, officers located a male who had been shot. He was transported to a local hospital in critical condition but later died.IMPD says two men were at the scene who were victims of separate carjackings. One of the victims was armed during the incident.According to IMPD, the first victim fired his weapon at the suspects as they attempted to carjack the second victim, striking one of the suspects.The second suspect fled the area on foot before the officers arrival, police say.A knife was also located at the crime scene.Anyone with information about this incident should call the IMPD Aggravated Assault Office at 317-327-3475.
