The 8th annual Polynesian Bowl is set for Friday, showcasing three members of the University of Hawaii’s 2025 football recruiting class. The premier prep all-star game will feature Saint Louis standout Titan Lacaden, Campbell offensive lineman Jordan Kernaghan, and Hawaii-born Kawika Hallums, who completed his high school career at Bishop Gorman in Las Vegas. For the trio, this game marks their first opportunity to take the field as official Rainbow Warriors. Lacaden, a consensus three-star prospect and KHON2’s Cover2 Kaulukukui Award winner as Offensive Player of the Year in 2024, expressed his excitement: “Definitely, it’s just a grateful moment to be here and to represent myself as a Rainbow Warrior. We’re surrounded by high-level coaches and players. I’m just trying to soak everything in, elevate my game, and enjoy the moment.” Lacaden helped lead Saint Louis to the HHSAA Open Division state title in 2024, finishing his high school career with 3,199 yards from scrimmage and 34 total touchdowns. On3 ranks him as the No. 19 overall prospect in Hawaii and the state’s top wide receiver. Kernaghan, another three-star recruit, anchored a Campbell offensive line that helped the Sabers average 41.9 points and 395.3 total yards per game. The Sabers advanced to the HHSAA Open Division semifinals last season. “It’s truly a blessing to represent a school that believes in me,” Kernaghan said. “Being from here, I want to show others what makes our culture special and represent my hometown proudly.” Hallums, who began his prep career at Punahou before transferring to Bishop Gorman, helped the Gaels to back-to-back Nevada 5A state championships. His senior season saw the team average 47.8 points and 411.8 total yards per game. “All my life, I’ve wanted to represent Hawai‘i, and now I get to,” Hallums said. “It’s an amazing feeling to come full circle and do what I love, while appreciating the beauty and blessings of where I come from.” Lacaden has already been identified as a standout in practice by 247Sports.
