On the night of Nov. 23, 2024, the Allen County Sheriff's Department responded to a crash on I-69 southbound at the 320 mile-marker, near Union Chapel Road. Police determined Hudson was driving an SUV over 100 mph when it crashed into a guardrail and flipped. Two children and Hudson's sister were thrown from the SUV on impact. The woman and a 6-year-old were pronounced dead at the scene. The Allen County Coroner identified the victims as Nalani Ella Ervins, 6, and Jaiden Samaria Marquis Newbolt, 25. Investigators determined that four seconds before the crash, Hudson was driving 104 mph, and two seconds later, sped up to 106 mph. However, Hudson allegedly told police at the scene her sister had been the one driving, while Hudson was in the back with the three kids, who were all between the ages of 4 and 6. In an interview with detectives four days later, Hudson admitted she was the one behind the wheel. She went on to say the group was following another car on their way to a birthday party when they got lost, according to court documents, and Hudson began arguing with her sister. While trying to turn around on the highway, Hudson said she lost control of the SUV. In her interview with police, she admitted none of the children were in car seats or buckled up at all, despite a car seat being within reach.
