(COLORADO SPRINGS) — The Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) was dispatched to the Stetson Hills neighborhood on Monday, Jan. 13 to investigate a possible fraud case and arrested one person on felony charges. Officers were dispatched to the 5900 block of Stetson Hills Boulevard near Austin Bluffs Parkway and Union Boulevard, to investigate a possible fraud situation where a suspect had rented six rooms with a stolen credit card. During the investigation, officers contacted a man who was returning to one of the rooms and recovered a loaded 40-cal handgun and illegal narcotics on the suspect. While checking the rooms, officers recovered firearm parts, additional narcotics, drug paraphernalia, credit cards, and government-issued ID cards belonging to multiple people. The man with the narcotics and handgun was arrested on felony charges related to firearms and illegal narcotics. "Officers ultimately determined the unknown fraud suspect has similarly targeted area hotels in the recent past," CSPD said. CSPD Financial Crimes Unit was notified of the incident.
