Organizers of North Perry Village’s upcoming centennial celebration have received an invitation for an opportunity to learn more about the community’s past. The Perry Historical Society is willing to make its achives available to people who are involved in planning activities that will take place in July to mark North Perry’s 100th anniversary. That invitation was offered by Holly Egolf, a member of the Perry Historical Society’s museum committee. Egolf addressed North Perry Village Council earlier this month. “If you had any research you felt you wanted to do for your celebration, we have the archives in our workroom on Manchester Road,” Egolf said. The society’s workroom is located in the Manchester West building at 4261 Manchester. North Perry centennial celebration organizers can make an appointment to do research in the workroom, and would be able to make copies of documents, pictures or other information that might help in preparing for the event, she said. North Perry Village has announced at least one part of the celebration will be held on July 19 at Townline Park. The park is located at the northern end of Townline Road on the Lake Erie shoreline. The start and finish times have not yet been announced. Additional centennial festivities might take place on the night of July 18 in Village Hall  or on the large lawn behind the building. Village Hall is located at 4449 Lockwood Road. Village Police Chief Ron Walters is heading up a committee that’s in charge of organizing, scheduling and carrying out events for North Perry’s 100th anniversary celebration. Village government officials wanted to schedule centennial festivities on dates close to July 18. That’s because a petition for incorporation of North Perry Village was sent to the Ohio Legislature on that date in 1925, according to information on the village’s website. North Perry formally came into existence on Jan. 1, 1926, with 430 residents at the time of incorporation, the village website stated. In the 2020 U.S. Census, North Perry Village was listed as having 915 residents. At the recent council meeting and during a follow-up interview, Egolf said Perry Historical Society members had not yet discussed the North Perry centennial during a formal meeting. The Perry Historical Society collects and preserves historic items that originated in Perry and North Perry villages and Perry Township. In addition to its workroom in the Manchester West building, the society operates the Perry Historical Museum at 3885 Main St. in Perry Village. The museum displays items that  “provide a glimpse into the lives of past Perry residents,” the society stated on its website.
