Happy Wednesday, DMV! It's another cold start across the DMV, so bundle up before heading out the door. Cold, sunny, and blustery conditions will be the trend as we head through much of the day today. Highs today are expected to be in the 30s with winds gusting between 20-30 mph. Combining the cold and wind gives you a windchill value in the teens to 30s. In the higher elevations could see wind chill values below 0. Because of this, the National Weather Service has a cold weather advisory in place until noon. Tonight winds will begin to die down with overnight lows dipping into the teens and 20s. High pressure will begin to move offshore by Thursday, and a clipper system will begin to dive into the area. This will provide the mountain counties with accumulating snow with mostly cloudy skies across the DMV. The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm watch for Garrett County and portions of the eastern panhandle of West Virginia that will go in place tomorrow morning and last until Friday morning. A few flurries could spill east of the mountains Thursday afternoon. Highs on Thursday are expected to be in the 30s. High pressure will briefly build in on Friday providing us with wall-to-wall sunshine. Highs on Friday will be right around seasonable for this time of year reaching into the 40s. A cold front looks to approach the DMV by Saturday providing us with scattered rain. Highs for Saturday and Sunday will reach into the 40s. 7-Day Forecast: Today: Mostly sunny skies with windy conditions. Highs will be in the upper 20s to lower 30s.
