ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — A man found guilty after shooting an East Rochester police officer will be sentenced Wednesday morning. 51-year-old Raymond Noel was convicted of attempted murder after investigators said he shot Officer Brad Steve in January 2024. On Wednesday, he was sentenced to 35 years to life in prison. According to investigators, Officer Steve was responding to a 911 call on Garfield Street when he saw Noel in the driveway with a gun. Noel moved to go into the building as officers told him to stop. He proceeded to aim the gun at Officer Steve. Both of them shot at each other and both were hit. Officer Steve was protected by his bulletproof vest. Noel was taken to the hospital as charges were pending against him. Noel was charged with attempted aggravated murder, attempted aggravated assault upon a police officer, and criminal possession of a weapon. He was found guilty in November.
