WELLINGTON, Kan. (KSNW) -- Wellington received exciting economic news Wednesday morning. The Kansas Department of Commerce announced that AAR CORP will expand its Wellington facility and add more jobs. (Courtesy AAR) AAR is investing up to $9.5 million to add 100,000 square feet to its components facility and up to 100 new jobs. The company hopes to start operating in the expanded area in April. The company provides aviation services such as maintenance, repair and operations (MRO); original equipment manufacturer (OEM), and other global supply chain and distribution solutions to commercial and government customers. Standoff at Winfield hotel ends with arrest “Their expansion not only will bring new jobs to south-central Kansas but will further strengthen our powerful aviation ecosystem, which benefits the entire state," Lt. Governor and Secretary of Commerce David Toland said. “We are excited to strengthen our operations and contribute to the local economy by increasing our workforce,” said Ben Murrell, general manager of the Wellington AAR facility. “This growth will enhance our ability to service our global customers and meet the demand for an even larger aviation presence in Kansas.” The facility has been operating for nearly 60 years. AAR says the expansion will allow it to add products to its portfolio of capabilities.
