TOPEKA (KSNT) - A new express care facility is due to open its doors for the first time later this month in southeast Topeka. SENT, Inc. announced in a press release on Jan. 15 that it will be launching a new Southside Wellness Clinic on Jan. 27. This clinic will provide locals in the area access to healthcare services and express care. “Healthcare coverage is a tremendous stressor for many in our community,” said Johnathan Sublet, executive director of SENT. “Without it, people delay seeking care, sometimes with life-altering consequences.” SENT, Inc. reports that southeast Topeka contains the highest rates of uninsured people in Kansas, especially among children. The area faces large healthcare coverage gaps, making it difficult for families there to get or afford the care they need. Mail delays leave Topeka resident upset in wake of blizzard "Nationwide, approximately 27 million Americans are uninsured, and 41% of adults refrain from seeking healthcare due to cost. These disparities are even more pronounced in Southeast Topeka, where a large percentage of families are also struggling with high-deductible health plans or lack a primary care provider altogether."
