Park City Council to meet new Youth Advisory Council at Thursday meeting

Park City Council will meet Thursday at 5:30 p.m. in Council Chambers at City Hall. Agenda highlights include the following items: Youth Advisory Council Introduction Making their debut at this meeting, Park City’s Youth Advisory Council members are 13 local students (grades seven to 12) who seek to raise their level of engagement with local government. City Council will greet members of the program’s inaugural class and discuss the year ahead. Members and alternates will attend City Council meetings, participate in focus groups, attend city events and advocate for Park City at the state level, according to a staff report. The Youth Advisory Council will meet monthly beginning in January and will join Park City Council in attending the Utah League of Cities and Towns Local Officials Day at the Legislature on Jan. 22.Redus Park City, LLC Land Proposal Redus Park City, LLC is proposing a property exchange with Park City Municipal involving 310 acres within city limits. The draft, nonbinding letter of intent would authorize Redus to initiate an application for a possible development agreement amendment, which would follow the standard planning process and public hearings required in accordance with the Land Management Code. The council will review the proposal and consider authorizing the letter of intent. October Tax Report The council will receive an overview of Park City’s sales tax rates, structure, recent revenue trends, notable updates to the Utah tax code and a have brief discussion on property tax. No formal action is requested, according to the city. Historic Preservation Board Appointment Dalton Gackle, a Park City resident, has been nominated to fill a vacancy on the Historic Preservation Board. The council will consider appointing Gackle to the seven-member board that reviews applications related to the City’s 400-plus Landmark and Significant Historic Sites. According to a staff report, Gackle would replace Jack Hodgkins, who resigned at the September Board meeting. Staff then reached out to the Utah State Historical Society and Preservation Utah regarding potential candidates and conducted interviews in October and November. Gackle has been a board member of Preservation Utah since 2022 and the Research, Digital Services and Social Media Coordinator for the Park City Museum since 2019.
