The CIF Southern Section earlier this week released its honors for the 2024 high school football season. Three Inland players were selected as a player of the year in their respective playoff divisions. Murrieta Mesa senior lineman Isaiah Casillas was chosen the Co-Defensive Player of the Year in Division 6. Casillas helped the Rams capture a section title for the first time in program history. He led the defensive unit with 13 sacks and 42 tackles for loss and was second with 107 total tackles. Casillas shared the award with Glendora senior linebacker Austin Coronado. Two Inland players were selected as a player of the year in the 8-Person divisions. (Photo by Terry Pierson, The Press-Enterprise/SCNG) California School for the Deaf-Riverside senior quarterback and linebacker Kaden Adams was chosen the Division 1 Player of the Year after helping the Cubs win their third straight section championship. Adams passed for 1,735 yards and 33 touchdowns and added 562 yards and 13 touchdowns on the ground. He accounted for five touchdowns in the Division 1 section championship game. On defense, Adams finished the season with 40 tackles. Cornerstone Christian sophomore quarterback and safety Dylan Kelly was chosen the Division 2 Defensive Player of the Year. Two Inland coaches also were honored this season. Cornerstone Christian’s Anthony Cabadas was chosen the 8-Person Division 2 Coach of the Year after guiding the Crusaders to the semifinals. Murrieta Mesa’s Oscar McBride was among the 14 coaches recognized for leading their teams to section titles in the 11-Person divisions. There were 142 additional Inland players who were selected to the first team in their school’s respective playoff divisions. Two Inland players earned first-team honors for the third time in their career: Murrieta Valley senior quarterback Bear Bachmeier and Bonita senior linebacker Noah Mikhail.
