CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) - 43 people have been displaced after an electrical fire at the Sunstone Apartments in Chesapeake. According to officials, just after 6:20 a.m., crews were dispatched to the Sunstone Apartments located in the 4600 block of Peek Trail. This is in the Western Branch region. Fire crews arrived to the scene just 11 minutes later, and found an active fire behind the electrical meters in the rear of the building, which controlled power to 36 units in the complex. Dominion Energy was then contacted to assist. Power to the apartment will not be able to be restored, and residents will not be able to reenter until repairs have been made, fire crews said. No injuries were reported, and the Red Cross was called to assist with the displaced residents. Continue to check WAVY.com for updates.
