Colts headed to Berlin as part of NFL International Series
Jan 15, 2025
The Indianapolis Colts will head to Berlin next season.
The team will host the NFL’s first regular-season game at Berlin’s historic Olympic Stadium. The venue hosted five NFL exhibition games from 1990 through 1994.
This marks the first time the Colts have played a “home” game as part of the NFL’s International Series. They were the visiting team during their 2016 game against Jacksonville in London and their 2023 game against New England in Germany.
The date, kickoff time and opponent will be announced at a later time.
"The NFL is making history in Berlin, and the Colts are proud to be part of this landmark event in one of the world's most historic cities," said Jim Irsay, Colts owner and CEO. "The NFL has become a global brand, and we're looking forward to growing American football in Germany and expanding Colts Nation's footprint around the world. This game also provides a unique opportunity for our local Indiana partners to engage with German businesses, customers and fans this season and in the future."
Beginning in 2025, the NFL can schedule up to eight international games. The Jacksonville Jaguars, Cleveland Browns and New York Jets will all host home games in London this season. The NFL will also play a regular-season game in Madrid, Spain, for the first time in 2025.
Each team is required to host an international game at least once every eight seasons.
“It was great to see the Colts go 1-0 on my home turf in Germany in 2023,” said Björn Werner, a former Colts draft pick who is now the official “Colts Ambassador” in Germany and Austria and serves as an NFL expert overseas. “Now, hosting a game in the historic Olympic Stadium in Berlin is the next big step. I’m pumped to see how we can keep growing the game, not just in Germany and Austria, but all over Europe. Let’s go 2-0!”
While the Colts are losing one of their home games to Berlin next season, they'll still host eight regular-season home games at Lucas Oil Stadium.
