PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY, Va. (DC News Now) -- A Woodbridge family is without a home after a fire broke out Tuesday morning, moderately damaging the residence housing eight people.
The Prince William County Department of Fire and Rescue (PWFD) was dispatched to the 16300 block of Boatswain Circle just after 9:45 a.m. Residents had called the department to report a fire in the basement of their home.
When crews arrived on the scene, everyone had safely evacuated.

PWFD found the basement bedroom fire and was able to put it out quickly, the department said.
One adult was taken to a local hospital for treatment of a non-life-threatening injury. A total of five adults and three children were displaced by the incident.
The result of the fire could have been different if it wasn't for the working smoke detectors and the basement having its door closed, limiting the fire's spread, PWFD stated.
The Red Cross is helping the eight people displaced. Officials are still working to determine what caused the fire to break out.
