A 2-year-old girl was shot and critically injured Sunday night when she and her mother were caught in the crossfire of a gun battle in Vallejo, according to police. The shooting happened at about 8:30 p.m. in the area of Mark Avenue and Sawyer Street, police said. The toddler and her mom were driving through the neighborhood when the gun battle started. The mother raced the critically wounded child to the hospital. “This is a sad, senseless act of violence,” Vallejo police Sgt. Rashad Hollis said. “Our officers are determined to bring those responsible to justice.”
