WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) - A pedestrian is in critical condition after being hit by a car in north Wichita. It happened around 7:15 p.m. in the 2800 block of N. Hillside St. near the intersection of East 27th Street North and North Hillside Street. According to the Wichita Police Department, a man wearing dark clothing was either crossing the street or in the street when a vehicle traveling south on Hillside struck him. He has been transported to an area hospital with critical injuries. The driver remained on the scene and is cooperating with investigators. "Our accident follow-up unit is out on location now working to determine the circumstances that led up to this tragic accident," said WPD Public Information Officer Andrew Ford. The area will be blocked off for a few hours while investigators work the scene.
