Richmond extends payment grace periods on bills, taxes and more
Jan 14, 2025
RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- The city of Richmond has further extended offered grace periods on the repayment of a variety of expenses, including utility bills, taxes and more.
The city saw many closures during the six-day water crisis and the surrounding winter storms.
Though these closures were put in place "to protect the health and safety of [Richmond] residents and businesses," they "may have impacted the ability of tax and ratepayers to pay in a timely fashion through no fault of their own," according to the city.
On Sunday, Jan. 12, Richmond officials announced initial grace periods on expenses like real estate and meals taxes, parking tickets and utility bills. These grace periods have since been lengthened.
