NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — The Pussyfooters dance krewe is gearing up for a busy Mardi Gras season. To kick it all off, they'll be partying with a purpose with their annual "Blush Ball." The Pussyfooters are always so perfectly pretty in pink and they are stepping out and stepping up preparing for their "Blush Ball." Blush Ball Time: What makes the Pussyfooters blush? "Every year we have different themes, and this year the theme is Kitty Up Club, a cowboy and cowgirl theme. We are looking for cowboy boots, fringe, hats and rhinestones," Nikki Polk, Vice-President of The Pussyfooters said. It's more than just a party for The Pussyfooters. For them it is their mission to throw their ball to help the Metro Centers for Community Advocacy. Last year they raised $60,000 to help this non-profit organization. "Our services are for men, women and children who are fleeing domestic violence, and victims of sexual assault, stalking and trafficking," Darlene Santana, Executive Director of Metro Centers for Community Advocacy said. Santana went on to say, "We are grant-funded and grants pay for certain things, but don't pay for other things." Beyoncè dancer from Metairie takes the stage on ‘Renaissance’ tour The money raised goes to help pay for travel expenses if a victim needs to flee, and other services like medications. "It really is amazing, the generosity of these ladies and what they've shown us, and they are the hardest working group of women that I've ever met. We love them," she said. The Pussyfooters are always there to put their best foot forward and make us all blush. The "Blush Ball" is this Friday night at 7:45 at Generations Hall. Tickets start at $45. Music will be provided by Phunky Monkeys and DJ Ally Bea, plus there will be a silent auction.
