LIHUE, Hawaii -- A Kauaʻi man was sentenced to 10 years in prison after he pled guilty to Robbery in the Second Degree in relation to a November 2023 Bank of Hawaiʻi robbery in Lihuʻe. He also pled guilty in a separate case to Assault Against a Law Enforcement Officer in the Second Degree. Get Hawaii's latest morning news delivered to your inbox, sign up for News 2 You According to Kauaʻi Police, 38-year-old Robert I Monroy entered the bank and gave the teller a note saying that it was a robbery, and that he had grenades on hand. The teller gave Monroy money, which he put in his bag and left the department. The robbery occurred in November 2023. Within minutes, KPD found Monroy walking down the street from the bank and placed him under arrest.
